This race has received the Chicago Area Runners Association designation as a 2020 CARA Certified Race, and is a part of the 2020 CARA Choice Circuit. This race has agreed to adhere to and uphold CARA’s Best Practices Guidelines. These Guidelines embody the highest standards for quality, safety and comfort for participants in a road race. The start and finish lines are at the Oak Park River Forest High School, 201 N. Scoville just north of Lake Street, Oak Park.

Help us reduce our carbon footprint by carpooling, using public transportation, or riding your bicycle to the event.

To determine the best route to travel via public transportation, either use the CTA’s trip planner at Since we are less than a mile from the Metra Oak Park stop serving the Union Pacific West Line you may want to take the train. You can view a schedule at Metra's web site:

Bicycle parking is available at the race site near the start/finish area and behind the school next to the stadium


There is a parking garage on the corner of Scoville and Lake with 300 parking spots. There is a nominal charge for parking in the garage. In addition there is lots of free on-street parking south of Lake Street and west of the High School. Please look for no parking signs and DO NOT park along the race course.

Our Charitable Benefactors

The Good Life Race will be donating its proceeds to the Collaboration for Early Childhood and the Beyond Hunger (formerly the Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry non-profit organizations. Over the previous six years, we raised over $146,000 for our charitable race partners, including $20,000 last year. Help us top this amount in 2020! More info

Gear Check

Indoor Gear Check will be available from 8:00 am to 11:30 am in the the Oak Park River Forest High School in the field house. Please pickup all checked gear by 11:30 am!!

Mother-Daughter & Father-Son Competition

Does your whole family enjoy running? Then why not compete as a Mother-Daughter team in the Women's 5K race or a Father-Son team in the men's 5K race? The top three teams in each category as determined by averaging the two-person team's race times will win an award!

When you register be sure to choose the Mother-Daughter or Father-Son option.

Athena & Clydesdale Awards

Our larger athletes can race against each other for awards in Athena and Clydesdale divisions. More info


No refunds are permitted.
No deferrals of entry to future years are permitted.
No transfer, sale or attempted sale of entries is permitted.
These include requests due to injury, pregnancy, surgery, personal circumstances or professional commitments.
If the need for event cancellation arises, please be reminded that there will be no refunds of registration fees.
Please note strollers, roller blades, and dogs are not allowed in the 5k or youth mile races.
Your bib must be on worn on the front of your body and visible at all times.

In the women's or men's 5K, anyone being paced by a person not registered for that race will be disqualified.

Community Team Challenge

The Community Team Challenge is a friendly competition for both the women’s and men’s’ 5k races. The challenge is open to groups of employees (and family members) from organizations within the business and public sectors. Running Clubs are not eligible. It's a great way for people who work together to engage in a healthy activity and friendly competition. More info

The safety of our runners and our volunteers is our primary concern. We have created a set of weather policies that describe how the race will react to various anomalous weather conditions. Please note that any actions taken as described will be communicate via public announcements on-site, as well as postings on our social media facebook & twitter pages.
