This race has received the Chicago Area Runners Association designation as a 2017 CARA Certified & Green Race, and is a part of the 2017 CARA Choice Circuit. This race has agreed to adhere to and uphold CARA’s Best Practices Guidelines. These Guidelines embody the highest standards for quality, safety and comfort for participants in a road race. Race Shirts

All 5K, youth mile and fitness walk participants will receive a 100% polyester, "cotton feel" race tech shirt. Please check the sizing chart to be sure your shirt will fit well.


The course is flat, fast and USATF certified, View the course map.


The start and finish lines are at the Oak Park River Forest High School, 201 N. Scoville just north of Lake Street, Oak Park.

Help us reduce our carbon footprint by carpooling, using public transportation, or riding your bicycle to the event.

To determine the best route to travel via public transportation, either use the CTA’s trip planner at Since we are less than a mile from the Metra Oak Park stop serving the Union Pacific West Line you may want to take the train. You can view a schedule at Metra's web site:

Bicycle parking is available at the race site near the start/finish area and behind the school next to the stadium


There is a parking garage on the corner of Scoville and Lake with 300 parking spots. There is a nominal charge for parking in the garage. In addition there is lots of free on-street parking south of Lake Street and west of the High School. Please look for no parking signs and DO NOT park along the race course.

Our Charitable Benefactors

The Good Life Race will be donating its proceeds to the Collaboration for Early Childhood and the Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry. After the 2016 race we were proud to donate $25,000 in total to these non-profit organizations. Help us top this amount in 2017! More info

Gear Check

Indoor Gear Check will be available from 8:00 am to 11:30 am in the the Oak Park River Forest High School Main Hallway. Please pickup all checked gear by 11:30 am!!

Mother-Daughter & Father-Son Competition

Does your whole family enjoy running? Then why not compete as a Mother-Daughter team in the Women's 5K race or a Father-Son team in the men's 5K race? The top three teams in each category as determined by averaging the two-person team's race times will win an award!

When you register be sure to choose the Mother-Daughter or Father-Son option.

Athena & Clydesdale Awards

Our larger athletes can race against each other for awards in Athena and Clydesdale divisions. More info


No refunds are permitted.
No deferrals of entry to future years are permitted.
No transfer, sale or attempted sale of entries is permitted.
These include requests due to injury, pregnancy, surgery, personal circumstances and professional commitments.

Your bib must be on worn on the front of your body and visible at all times.

Except in the Junior Dash, anyone being paced by a person not registered for that race will be disqualified.

Community Team Challenge

The Community Team Challenge is a friendly competition for both the women’s and men’s’ 5k races. The challenge is open to groups of employees (and family members) from organizations within the business and public sectors. It's a great way for people who work together to engage in a healthy activity and friendly competition. More info
